 About Us
*We are located in deep Southwest Georgia, about 60 miles south of Albany.
*We cover a 5-mile radius and back up four other departments.
*We have 30 currently members on our department.
*These members consits of certified firefighters, a paramedic, EMTs, First Responders, and divers. We are always having new members to join the department so we always have members in training.
*About half of our members also volunteer with other departments within the county.
*20 of Culbertson's members also volunteer with the Colquitt County Search and Rescue Team.
*We have 4 husband and wife teams within our department. Also, there is 1 father and son team within our department.
*We are a very close department. We get along like one big family.
*When asked "Why do you want to join the department?" the #1 answer is "Because I want to help the community". That is exactly what Culbertson Volunteer Fire Department is here for - to help the community.
*Fighting house fires isn't the only thing we do. We also fight vehicle fires, woods/grass fires, respond to medical calls to assist EMS, etc.
*We do not respond to calls just during the day we also respond to calls during all hours of the night.
*When the pager goes off, no matter what time it is, we put aside our personal lives to go help someone else. No matter if it is an elderly person that has fallen, or a child with a fever, or a false fire alarm we respond. We do this because we care about our community and we are willing to do whatever it takes to help.
